We have stayed in several Joie de vivre hotels and this is our first disappointment. This looks like one of those strange LA buildings that may have been posh at one time. The noise wall they have built around it looks like a construction zone tarp. It is practically on the freeway. I can see the Joie de vivre flair that makes these boutique hotels so special but the building itself is so awkward and claustrophobic it just doesn't work well. It did not help that when we walked in, they were dealing with a yelling unhappy customer. Our room itself was lovely but very awkward. We were traveling with our daughter so had a "double double" room. These rooms are way too small for that. There was no place to put our bags. The bathroom was crammed and doubling as a coffee bar. The air conditioning unit was ridiculously noisy. The restaurant upstairs looked to be fabulous, but very high dollar, even for breakfast the next day, so we ate elsewhere. This was a very convenient spot for our travels and near where we wanted to be, but if I make the same trip again I will stay elsewhere.

Very clean and comfortable. Nice floor plan - doesn't feel like the ordinary 2 beds etc. All the people working there were extremely nice and accommodating. The free shuttle to the Getty saved us money and was convenient. Remember though, LA = Valet so parking is extra. Would definitely stay there again and would recommend to friends. xyz Santa Cruz CA

The hotel is really nice; warm colors throughout and very clean. The bathrooms in the double bed rooms is way too small....very hard to move-around in. The hotel had ear-plugs in our room because our room was facing the highway and there is always traffic. We did get to see a couple of stars while staying at this hotel. I was not too happy with the mandatory $*valet parking each day we were there.

I don't understand all the negativity. I loved this place! It was clean and comfortable and the staff was extraordinary. The location was great and the restaurant was excellent. The only complaint would be the traffic noise, but with the location being right on the highway, that can hardly be avoided. It wasn't bad enough to keep me awake, but it was noticeable. Great value! Looking forward to my next stay!

We stayed here Dec 7-8, 2009, we made our reservations around 7pm on Dec 7th. After arriving around 11pm we were told they would be out of power at 12a-3a...was not told this while making reservations. Valets were spinning tires of cars and motorcycles in the parking garage. Water pressure was very low, unable to do makeup in bathroom due to dim lighting. Bed and artwork great. Staff was unpleasant, and valets rude.
